Integration

Yamisi wants to be a nurse. She told me a few months ago that this is something she has wanted to do since she was a young child. But now that her circumstances have changed, how would this be possible? Who can help her? She was prepared to give up her dream and aim toward becoming a hairdresser instead. Not that there is anything wrong with hairdressing but Yamisi is a very bright girl with lots of potential and I think she would make a wonderful nurse.

So, I thought what if she could volunteer at a hospital and if it was a positive experience for her, she would feel motivated to pursue her dream. I mentioned this to colleagues and asked whether any of "our" institutions (the reformed church operates a children's hospital and a seniors' home) would allow her to volunteer with them. My colleague made some calls, and Lord willing next week Yamisi will meet with the person at the children's hospital in charge of volunteers. Praise God! Please pray that this would be a good meeting.
